Privacy Policy
We take your privacy seriously. Here's what we collect and how we use it.
Effective Date: August 1, 2026 | Last Updated: September 17, 2026
K12 Assist LLC ("Company," "we," "our," or "us") operates ParentLead and the related ParentQA experience (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect information when schools, school administrators, current parent volunteers, and prospective parents use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
From School Administrators
We may collect school name and contact information; the name, email address, mobile phone number, role, and account credentials of school administrators; school website and admissions information; school timezone; grade configuration; and other settings needed to configure and operate the Service.
From Current Parent Volunteers
We may collect a current parent volunteer's first and last name, email address, mobile phone number, the grade level(s) of their enrolled child(ren), participation and availability information, and information generated through their use of ParentQA. Participation is voluntary.
From Prospective Parents
When a prospective parent chooses to use ParentQA, we may collect their first and last name, email address, mobile phone number, the grade level relevant to their school search, SMS consent information, and the content and timing of messages exchanged through the Service.
Conversation and Service Records
We may store conversation messages, message delivery information, matching activity, connection status, opt-in and opt-out events, transcripts, exports, and related operational records so that the Service can function and participating schools can review and manage their ParentLead activity.
Automatically Collected Information
When you visit parentlead.com, parentqa.com, or use the Service, we may automatically collect certain technical information, such as IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, referring URLs, timestamps, and application or security logs. We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate and provide the ParentLead and ParentQA services
- Match prospective parents with current parent volunteers
- Create and facilitate parent-to-parent text conversations and allow authorized school administrators to participate in or review them
- Send operational communications such as invitations, connection notices, reminders, account messages, and service notifications
- Provide participating schools with dashboards, reports, transcripts, and downloadable prospect or conversation records
- Respond to inquiries and provide customer support
- Protect the security, reliability, and integrity of the Service
- Improve and develop the Service
- Comply with legal and contractual obligations
We do not sell personal information to advertisers or unrelated third parties, and we do not use participant information for advertising unrelated to the ParentLead Service.
3. Text Messaging and Communications
ParentQA uses SMS text messaging to facilitate introductions and conversations among prospective parents, current parent volunteers, and participating school administrators.
- Prospective parents choose to participate through a school-specific ParentQA opt-in experience and affirmatively agree to receive ParentQA text messages related to that school connection.
- Current parent volunteers join through an invitation and activation process and affirmatively agree to receive operational ParentQA messages and parent-connection requests.
- Participants may revoke SMS consent by replying STOP or through any other method required by applicable law. After an opt-out request is processed, further messages requiring that consent will stop. A carrier or messaging provider may send a final confirmation message.
- Participants may reply HELP for support information where that feature is available.
- Standard message and data rates may apply.
Mobile opt-in information and phone numbers are not shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
4. Sharing of Information
We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- With participating schools: Authorized school users may receive or access prospective-family contact information, connection information, conversation records, reports, transcripts, and other school-specific records generated through the Service.
- With conversation participants: Information needed to facilitate a ParentQA connection may be shared among the prospective parent, current parent volunteer, and participating school administrator.
- With service providers: We use third-party providers that support functions such as hosting, database and file storage, authentication, transactional email, analytics, and SMS delivery. They process information on our behalf to provide those services.
- For legal compliance and safety: We may disclose information when required by law or legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, security, or safety of the Company, participating schools, users, or others.
- Business transfers: Information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the business, subject to applicable law.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
5. School Data and FERPA Considerations
ParentLead is designed to minimize the collection of student information and generally does not require schools to provide student education records in order to use the Service. The Service is intended primarily for communications among adults. Participating schools are responsible for determining their own obligations under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable student-privacy laws. Schools should not submit student education records or unnecessary student personal information through ParentLead.
6. Children's Privacy
ParentLead and ParentQA are intended for use by adults acting on behalf of their families and schools. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information directly from a child under 13, we will take appropriate steps to delete it. Parents or guardians who believe a child has submitted information directly to us should contact us at help@parentlead.com.
7. Data Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These may include encrypted transmission, access controls, authentication, logging, and security monitoring. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the Service, support participating schools, maintain required records, resolve disputes, protect security, and satisfy legal or contractual obligations. School-specific prospect and conversation records may be retained while the school account is active and for an appropriate period thereafter. Retention is also subject to valid deletion requests and legal or operational requirements.
Participating schools or individuals may contact us at help@parentlead.com regarding access, correction, deletion, or other privacy requests.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to:
- Request access to personal information we maintain about you
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Request deletion of certain personal information
- Opt out of text communications by replying STOP
- Request restriction of certain processing where applicable
To submit a request, contact help@parentlead.com. We may need to verify your identity or authority before completing certain requests, and some information may be retained where permitted or required by law.

Our websites may use cookies and similar technologies to support site functionality, security, and analytics. You may control cookies through your browser settings, although disabling certain cookies may affect site functionality. We do not use cookies to serve third-party behavioral advertising.
11. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party providers for functions such as hosting, database and file storage, authentication, messaging, transactional email, and analytics. Those providers may process information on our behalf subject to their own terms, privacy policies, and contractual obligations to us.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
